Ecobuild

Over 24,000 visitors, 500 exhibitors and 500 speakers participated in Ecobuild 2008, the world’s biggest event dedicated to sustainable design, construction and the built environment. The event provided over a dozen new attractions – practical, hands on experience and expert advice on numerous construction products and their sustainable values.
Representatives from the BLA were exhibiting at the event, promoting Singleton Birch’s British made Natural Hydraulic Lime, Tarmac Ltd and Tradical® Hemcrete® - a company that is comprised of Lhoist, Lime Technology, Castle Cement and Hemcore.
Hear what the members had to say about Ecobuild:
Steve Foster - Lime Sales Manager, Singleton Birch
“Ecobuild seems to be growing in popularity year on year. Singleton Birch were supporting Ty-Mawr, who are one of our major stockholders for Natural Hydraulic Lime, lime putty, lime mortars and limewash. The market demand for environmentally responsible building is increasing rapidly and this is reflected in the fact that attendee numbers were excellent and Singleton Birch / Ty- Mawr received a large number of visitors and enquiries.”
BLA ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ Lords Seminar
Lime Seminar - Pushing the Boundaries
A total of 98 delegates and guest speakers attended the BLA Seminar,
aptly named 'Lime-Pushing the Boundaries' on Wednesday 21st of
November 2007. The event was hosted by Phil Richards (Chairman
of the BLA) at Lord's Cricket Ground, and incorporated a range
of visitors from consultants and contractors, to material producers
and architects.
Presentations were split into two distinct categories. Morning
lectures focused on the use of lime below ground (i.e. for soil
stabilisation/solidification, treatment of contaminated land,
hydraulically bound materials, and lime in asphalt). Whereas,
the afternoon session covered the use of lime in construction
(including lime in mortar, hemp lime, hydraulic lime and even
lime putty).
Overall, the day was a huge success, with all delegates saying
that they would refer the seminar to other colleagues in the future.
