June 2009
Following the recent internal promotion of Dr Martyn Kenny to Director of Sustainability for Tarmac Buxton Lime & Cement, the time constraints imposed in his new position dictate that Martyn has had relinquish the position of Chairman of the BLA Environment Committee. With many critical issues for the UK Lime Industry currently on the Environment agenda, the newly appointed Chairman will be Mr Martin Haworth, the Technical Director of Singleton Birch Ltd. Martin has wide experience in the Lime industry and has served on the Environment Committee for several years, this experience and knowledge should help guide the committee in its approach to consultations and future regulatory legislation.
Following Martin's appointment as Chairman of the Environment Committee, his position as Chairman of the BLA Products & Standards Committee has been accepted by Mr Peter Grosvenor who currently sits on the committee, and is the Technical & Environmental Manager for Tarmac Buxton Lime & Cement. As well as P & S Chairman, Peter will fill the vacancy and represent Tarmac BLC on the Environment Committee.
While much of the work of the two committees is correlated, these appointments will ensure the work of both committees will continue with the commitment and energy to meet future challenges.
The structure of both the BLA Management and Promotion Committees remain unchanged, all four committees having representation from all BLA members.
The BLA Technical Manager Mr Gwil Neal will administer the work of the Management, Environment and Products & Standards Committees, with Mr Stephen Hill undertaking work on behalf of the Promotion Committee, and supporting the Technical Manager as required.
